American Kennel Club Responsible Dog Ownership Day - September 10, 2010
Free admission to a gathering of dog related events including dog contests, dogs for adoption, dog demonstrations including agility, recal, hearding and more. Many vendors had animal related booths, with micro chipping, vaccinations, nail clipping and canine good citizenship testing available. The emcee was none other than our county sheriff, Asa Buck. Proceeds donated to the Carteret County Humane Society and the Carolina Poodle Rescue.
Car Transport Program - June 19, 2010
Being involved in our first car transport program, taking Aspen to a Border Collie Rescue, we drove from Morehead City to South Hill, VA with Aspen. Expecting just the coordinator from Atlantic Regional Central, Border Collie Rescue of Richmond, VA, to take Aspen and one other dog, we were very surprised that about 20 cars showed up dropping off and picking up many other dogs and cats from a number of organizations. While somewhat confusing for us as to who was going where, seeing so many dedicated individuals involved in saving pets was very rewarding.
Carteret County Humane Society, DOG-GONE TRANSPORT PROGRAM - March 20, 2010
On March 20th, another of a number of flights that Carteret County Humane Society has organized, took off from Beaufort Airport, flying dogs to northern states for adoptions. These dogs are rescued from local shelters, fostered and then flown to their "forever" home. We were proud to have fostered one of these, named "Nugget" which we have added to our success page.
